Buying your property
Once your offer has been accepted by the seller, a “compraventa” (preliminary sales
contract) will be drawn up. Though this can be done by the real estate agent or their
notary, we recommend you have it done by your own notary. In this brochure you will
find the contact details of a notary who we can recommend.
The “compravanta” should contain “conditions precedent” (things that must be delivered
for the contract to be binding), such as building permits, urbanisation plans and required
financing. You have seven days in which to cancel this contract without having to give a
reason. After the seven days, you must deposit 10% of the sales price with the notary.
The deposit will only be returned if the “compravanta” is cancelled for non-fulfilment of
the conditions precedent.
Within 3 months of the signing of the “compraventa”, the final deed should be signed.
