This volume deals with the narrative of major woman writers in Spanish
America and analyses the novel, the short story and testimonio writing of the
second half of the twentieth century. It contextualises their work by
highlighting the importance of woman's voices from the colonial period, the
nineteenth century and the most recent poetics of zafarrancho and guerrilla
narratives. Latin American Woman's Narrative gathers the critical work of
prominent feminist scholars who, in the last quarter century, have developed
a woman writers' canon fpr Spanish American letters. In doing so they have
reshaped the received understanding of Latin America's cultural history. This
wide-ranging collection offers a detailed feminist analysis of woman's
writing in its historical contextand gives new insights into the works of such
key writers as Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and Diamela Eltit.
Este volumen considera la narrativa de las más importantes escritoras en
Hispanoamérica, principalmente la novela, el cuento y el testimonio en la
segunda mitad del siglo XX, sin descuidar las formaciones coloniales más
tempranas que a través del siglo XIX nos llegan hasta el presente. Narrativa
Femenina en América Latina recoge el trabajo de prominentes críticos
feministas quienes, en los últimos veinticinco años, han desarrollado el
canon femenino en las letras hispanoamericanas, dando así nueva forma a la
historia de la cultura en América Latina. Múltiples y heterogéneas
aproximaciones iluminan la obra de escritoras claves como por ejemplo Sor
Juana Inés de la Cruz y Diamela Eltit, prestando especial atención a la
problemática de la teoría feminista y a su relación con la escritura de
autógrafo femenino en América Latina en su específico entorno histórico.
