CATHOLIC FUNERAL RITES AND CEMETERY SERVICES The Community Outreach Staff from Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery, a Ministry of the Diocese of Reno, will be here on April 2nd & 3rd to discuss the spiritual & practical reasons for learning about Catholic Funeral Rites and Cemetery Services. After each Mass, there will be a short presentation along with a Q&A session. Our Catholic Funeral tradition affirms our belief in the communion of saints and our trust in Jesus’ promise of everlasting life. Burying the dead is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy, incumbent upon every Christian. The Church’s rituals enable us to honor our dearly departed with solemn and tender devotion. I take this opportunity to recommend that all Catholics explore the services offered by Our Mother of Sorrows to better understand the spiritual and financial benefits of planning ahead for their funeral and cemetery needs. The burial plans they offer are flexible, affordable, & designed to meet your cemetery needs. Their facility, close parish relationships and compassionate counselors ensure that your funeral Mass & burial committal are well planned. Their onsite Most Holy Redeemer Chapel has capacity for 80 and is picturesque with its hand laid mosaic works of art, stained glass and traditional Catholic altar. By taking advantage of this opportunity to understand the importance of a Catholic funeral and burial, you will walk away with a better understanding of the importance and ease of planning ahead to ensure peace of mind for you and your family. Yours in Christ, Fr. Jacob Carazo OFM Conv ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ INTRODUCTION S ,A TO CENTERING 23 9:00 AM—2:00 PM PRAYER WORKSHOP O L S P H The centering prayer workshop will teach a method of silent prayer that is rooted in the Christian contemplative heritage. It is a gentle silent method of consenting to Godʼs presence and healing action within us. By taking time to “rest in God” each day, we open our awareness to the gift of Godʼs presence. Come learn more about this prayer method. There will be 3 follow-up sessions of 2 hours each thereafter on April 28th, May 5th and May 12th (6:30-8:30PM). The suggested donation for the workshop is $40, that includes materials, Fr Keatingʼs book Open Mind Open Heart, refreshments during the workshop & registration for the contemplative outreach newsletter. Scholarships are available upon request. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch. To assist in planning please call Ann at (775) 762-3115. For more information on the contemplative outreach spiritual network visit www.contemplativeoutreach.org. STONES SPEAK TO OUR LESSON FOR PALM SUNDAY Why do the Gospel begin and end with rocks and trees? Where does Paradise fit into the Passion story? Just what is the importance of stones in the Gospels anyway? When Jesus tells the apostles to pray that they not undergo the test, what is the test? What is the importance of the stone rolled away from the tomb? To find out, please visit: https://renocatholic.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/stones-speak-to-our-lesson-for-palm-sunday-2/ Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus with Shalom Aleichem et Charles W. Man si ng next to her turns to her and says, “Lady, that’s the ugliest baby I have ever seen. That baby looks in a mirror, it’s going to sha er. You ought to put a bag on that baby’s head. That baby is just ugly.” The woman, horrified, stands up and shouts for the conductor. “Conductor, this man has insulted me.” “I’m so sorry, ma’am,” the conductor replies. “What he did is totally unacceptable on this train. I will deal with him later, but for now, please come with me. We’ll give you a nice seat in the first-class carriage — and a banana for your monkey.” ALTAR LINENS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE THE OFFICE STAFF HAS TAKEN ON THE CLEANING AND IRONING OF THE ALTAR LINENS AND SURPLICES.
