William Hubbard Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, Sacrificial giving Dar con sacrificios As we talked about during November, stewardship asks us to put God’s priorities first and to sacrificially give from our “first fruits.” This means that when we make our commitment to give, we do not give from what is left over after we pay our monthly bills and set aside our extra money. Rather, we give from our first portion-right off the top. We make giving back to God our number one priority. No, damos a Dios primero. Dar a Dios es nuestra prioridad principal. As we continue to learn about our diocesan capital campaign, For Christ Forever, I ask you to take a moment to reflect on sacrificial giving and how important it is to the success of our campaign. Each of us needs to ask ourselves, what is a sacrificial gift for me? Mindful of what you currently give here at Our Lady of Fatima, what can you also give to our For Christ Forever campaign? Please pray over that question in the coming weeks. You will receive lots more information to help in that decision. In other great news, I want to congratulate Denise McDermott, our 4th grade teacher at OLF School. This past Thursday, she received the Teacher of the Year award from the city of San Clemente. All of our teachers at OLF school are outstanding and Mrs. McDermott is one very public witness of that. Congratulations, Denise! Felicidades, Denise! seventh sunday of ordinary time / 7° Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 3 parish news, events, and opportunities Collection for the Church in Latin America/ Eastern Europe Share your Faith Today, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America. Make a Difference in Our Children’s Lives Catechists and assistants are needed for our Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC) program. This is an opportunity for our kids in K through 4th grade to encounter God’s word in a way meant just for them. It takes place during our 9am Sunday Mass, but only with the support of the parish community. Our kindergarten class is in particular need for adults and teen volunteers. If you have special place in your heart for kids and God’s Word, you are invited to explore this. If you are interested please contact Rosa Rama at 492-4101 x119 or rrama@olfchurch.net. Para más información llame al 949-233-4663 o 949-498-0197 Sunday morning child care on hiatus Our Lady of Fatima has been providing Sunday morning child care during the 9 am Mass for about ten years. It began as a parent cooperative wherein participating families shared the responsibility of providing care for their children. A few years ago, we added permanent staff positions for this ministry. Now, with the departure of one those staff members, we'd like to take some time to evaluate the ministry. On Sunday, March 2, Sunday morning child care will go on hiatus. Many thanks to Bridget Goodreau and Christina Jimenez for their dedicated care of our children over the past few years. We do not have a firm date on when we will reopen but will be looking to our young families for input as we assess needs and look at possible alternative models. Development news will be published in the Sunday newsletter and on the parish website. In the meantime, please feel free to contact Robin Margraf in the parish office or at rmargraf@olfchurch.net with questions or to offer feedback. Lenten Fish Dinner Volunteers Needed.
