fr. William Hubbard
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima,
We now begin our most solemn week as Catholics. Holy
Week holds a special place in the hearts of Christians around
the world. The liturgies of this week offer us the ability to
enter into the life of Jesus in a moving way. On Monday, all
the priests of the Diocese of Orange will gather with our bishops at the Chrism Mass. At this Mass, the Bishop Vann will
bless the holy oils used throughout the year. Also, the priests
will recommit to their promises of priestly service that we
made on our ordination day. It is at 5:30pm at St. Columban
Church in Garden Grove. There is only one Mass permitted
on Holy Thursday and it is called Mass of the Lord’s Supper.
Every Mass focuses us in on the Last Supper, but, for whatever reason, this one feels more special to me. A particular
favorite of mine is the procession at the end of Mass to our
place of repose, where we leave the Blessed Sacrament for the
evening. The symbolism is going out with Jesus to the Garden
of Gethsemane and staying with him there in prayer. Good
Friday brings a very different focus to the week as we remember Christ’s death and all the events around it. The liturgy that
day gives us the opportunity to reverence the Cross of Christ,
mindful that this horrible death is in fact an incredible blessing for us. The silence of Holy Saturday gives way to what we
all want to celebrate – Light wins over darkness. I encourage
you, as much as possible, to participate in the liturgies and
events of Holy Week. I pray that this week is an occasion for
God to deepen your relationship with him.
Holy Week Schedule / La Semana Santa

Coming This Summer–
Weekly Falcon Fun Summer Camp!
JULY 7—AUGUST 22 / 8AM - 4PM, MONDAY - FRIDAY
Open to all children entering kindergarten through 8th grade
Positive reinforcement from caring adults, the thrill of summer
activities, the sharing of adventures with a group of friends,
and the chance to participate in summer fun activities are
many of the reasons for sending your child to OLF’s summer
camp program. Far more than simple child care for the summer, our OLF summer camp provides both quality educational experiences and fun for the campers in a safe environment.
Our caring, well trained counselors involve themselves with
the campers both by facilitating games and activities and by
playing along in games of the campers’ choice. Through this
interaction our campers develop healthy social skills, learn
how to successfully resolve conflicts, and how to make and
keep good friends! Each camp day is planned to compliment
the theme of the week, may include science, crafts, games,
technology and light academics. Weekly field trips are also
planned. For detailed information please visit www.olfschool.
