Mr. Ernest Ciccarelli, Deacon RCIA Inquiries: Please contact John & Nichole Sablan: 209-581-8477 From the Pastor’s Laptop “The two shall become one” Father Mark Wagner In today's Gospel Jesus quotes the commandment "You shall not commit adultery" .(Mark 10:19) In last Sunday's Gospel Jesus said: "A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” (Mark 10:4-5). These words of Jesus remind us of what has always been and always will be the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding marriage. We know that Pope Francis has listened to families at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, and to the bishops in Rome as they prepared for the extraordinary synod on the family. Marriage is the basic foundation for all families and without marriage, there is no family. There is certainly compassion for those, who for no fault of their own, experience the pain of divorce. Perhaps there will be improvements On Wednesday, October 7, we will honor Our Lady and the month of the rosary with an International Rosary after 5:45pm Mass. The Cherubim Choir will provide an “Ave Maria” prelude. and a streamlining of the long process of seeking annulment. Right now it takes over a year for the Church to study a previous marriage to discern whether there was some reason why it was not a valid marriage from the beginning. If such reasons can be found and proven, then the marriage is declared invalid ("annulled"), and it becomes possible for such persons to "remarry.” It is a declaration from the Church that the first "marriage" was not a binding sacramental marriage. However, once a marriage is validly contracted between a man and a woman who are both mature enough and have the right intentions, then as Jesus says "no man can separate,” not even the Pope! We also have compassion on the children of divorced parents who suffer so terribly. The church teaches that annulment has no affect on them. Let us pray for our "Holy Father" as he leads the great world family which is the a Catholic Church! Please return your Annual Stewardship Renewal Cards, which are available in the vestibule of the church Welcome to St. Joseph’s Questions? Parish Stewardship — a way of life Richard Braun How many times have you seen this face on the lectern, asking us to support some ministry effort? Did he make you laugh? Did he seem full of joy for our Lord? In most cases, the answer is … yes! Richard Braun uses his joy and public speaking ability to motivate others in our parish. A Knights of Columbus Insurance Field Agent by day, he also serves as husband to Maria and proud father of Nicolas (Nico) and Giancarlos. He has answered God’s call of stewardship to serve as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Chair of our Parish Festival, Adult Choir Member, World Youth Day Chaperone, and more, along with being a good and devoted friend to many. Most remarkable about Richard is that he always keeps his joyful focus on whatever he is doing. He serves with grace, faith and always with the attitude that what he has is God’s and his job is to be a steward of those gifts. Richard is a member of our new TMIY Core Team and invites you to join him in breakfast and fellowship.: Wednesdays at 5:45am Doors Open for breakfast Parish Hall That Man is YOU! New to the Parish?
