June 2016 Newsletter CELEBRATE PRIDE 2016 St. Helena Public Library Thursday, June 9th, 7:00 pm Thursday, June 16th, 7:00 pm A BOOKS ARTIST RECEPTION & TALK The Now, From Humble Origins Paintings by Greg De Lucca Local artist Greg De Lucca strives to realistically present natural beauty through his oil paintings. His favored subjects include the Maine seacoast, New Mexico environs, and especially the Napa Valley. Following his reception, De Lucca will give a retrospective presentation “You, too, can have fun painting.” Refreshments will be served. Before retiring, De Lucca was an executive at the CocaCola Company and former president of Sterling Vineyards, Chateau St. Jean, and Lyeth Winery. ON WINE EVENING Appellation Napa Valley, Author Talk by Richard Mendelson HOSTED BY NAPA VALLEY WINE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION In Appellation Napa Valley the renowned wine lawyer and industry authority Richard Mendelson tells a detailed story of the birth, definition and protection of America’s most famous wine region. Along the way, he provides incisive portraits of the men and women who joined hands in common cause and common spirit, igniting a revolution in American wine and food in the process. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Refreshments will be served. This film is based on true events from the 1936 Olympic Games. Synopsis: Jesse Owens’ quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler's vision of Aryan supremacy. 2016; rated PG-13; 134 minutes. CELEBRATE PRIDE MONTH Pride Night A COMMUNITY EVENT & INFORMATION FAIR Libraries across the nation offer a wide variety of cultural and educational programs to celebrate diversity in their communities. Join us to celebrate PRIDE Night 2016 to learn about local LGBT community organizations. Enjoy music, meet friends, and celebrate diversity.
