FLOTTEC XANTHATES SERIES PRODUCT DATA SHEET Chemical name: Potassium Amyl Xanthate (PAX) Trade name: Flottec PAX Specifications for 90% product Formula: CH3 S \ // C3H5OC – SNa CH3 / Physicals: Slight yellow or grey yellow free flowing pellet and soluble in water up to 30%. Testing method: Lead acetate titration Components Specification Analysis Result Purity 90.0% Min 90.40 Moisture & Volatiles 4.0% Max 2.90 Free Alkali 0.2% Max 0.09 Usage: Flottec PAX is widely used in multi-metal sulfide ore when the strongest collecting power is required and selectivity. PAX is the most powerful and least selective of all the commercially used xanthates. It can float all sulfides and is usually recommended for scavenging after a more selective rougher float. It is most commonly used in copper, nickel, zinc, gold containing iron sulfides and bulk sulfide flotation circuits where high recovery is desirable. Selectivity against iron sulfides can be improvded at high pH (10 Min).Flottec PAX is recommended for oxidized or tarnished ores due to its pulling power. PAX solutions are relatively unstable, especially at high temperatures. Fresh solutions should be made up every few days. Xanthates are not recommended for acid circuits due to the instability at low pH. Typical Dosage: 5-100g/tonne Solution: 5%-25% Packing: 1.
