ControlWave Firmware Release Notes December 2021 ControlWave Firmware Release Notes Version: 06.02.00 – Build date: 22-Dec-2021 Description This document describes release 06.02.00 of the ControlWave platform firmware. This document describes the items addressed in this release, details compatibilities, provides upgrade instructions, and includes a revision history. The features described in this document are available only if they are appropriately incorporated into the application running in the RTU. Major Updates and Enhancements Updates to detect and notify user of flash chip hardware failures. Upon detection of a flash hardware failure, the ControlWave unit will indicate a flash memory error and then reset. The user may optionally disable the reset after flash failure detection, but must add logic in the application to monitor for a flash failure condition. Field upgrade of the HBA firmware is not possible. Before upgrading: o Determine the specific transmitter requirements o Perform a full Alarm and Historical collection (archive files and audit logs) o Consider version and possible corruption of transmitter data. Due to compatibility issues, non-volatile transmitter data can be corrupted if left connected during firmware upgrades. Disconnect the field link device from the IEC module during firmware upgrades to avoid possible corruption. Case 1: 5.79.00 and older with IEC V1.11 (and older): no issue Case 2: 5.79.00 and IEC V1.20: chance for corruption Case 3: 5.80.00 and IEC V1.11: chance for corruption Case 4: 5.80.00 and IEC V1.20 (and later): no issue Known Limitations and/or Issues IEC V1.20 is not backwards-compatible with CW version 5.79 and earlier.
