View of completed model Temple of the Inscriptions, Mexico Buried in tropical rainforest, the existence of the Palenque ruins built by the Mayans, whose civilization flourished in Central America from 300 to 900 A.D., remained unknown for 800 years. Despite excavation work carried out since the 19th century, the dimensions of the Temple of the Inscriptions - 23 meters in height and with nine stone levels - kept the burial chamber of the King Pacal hidden until 1952. Even today, most of these ruins remain buried in dense jungle. *This model was designed for Papercraft and may differ from the original in some respects.
