Cathedral. Although officially “retired”,
Father Kieran has continued his priestly
ministry here at Christ the King. Most of
you have come to know him as he says

How shall I repay the Lord for his goodness to me?” Psalm 116
Mr. and Mrs. Adam Sever
Today’s passages from Samuel and St. John’s Gospel describe answering God’s call—His will
in our lives. St. Paul teaches that we are all part of the Body of Christ. God gives each of us
unique gifts with which to serve Him in carrying out His divine plan. Through conversion of
heart and mind, good stewards discern their vocational call from the Lord. That call may be to
religious life, marriage, or single life. Are we, too, like Eli, Samuel, John, Peter and Andrew
open to the Lord’s call in our lives?

Nativity at St. Joseph’s Altar Enhanced in 2014
The Nativity displayed on St. Joseph’s altar was enhanced through artistic creations by two CTK
parishioners.
First, Alan Carr, architect and parishioner, designed and fabricated a “triptych” (a work of art that
is divided into three panels, that are hinged together) to serve as a backdrop for the Holy Family.
Second, Susan Monroe, artist and parishioner, painted the triptych–
employing a mosaic design, consistent with the mosaics surrounding the
Cathedral’s Crucifix, replicating the night sky above the Holy Family
adorned by stars enhanced by using gold leaf.
Lastly, Alan designed, constructed and finished a beautiful solid oak panel,
consistent with the existing altar furnishings, enhancing the base of the nativity.
Monsignor Frank and the Cathedral Family thank Susan and Alan for their artistic talents, the many
hours spent working on the project, and their unending enthusiasm in creating a truly remarkable
enhancement to the Cathedral’s nativity. During Christmas 2014, the nativity displayed at St. Joseph’s
altar was enjoyed by many parishioners and families and will be continue to be enjoyed in the years to
come.

WELCOME FROM THE PASTOR AND
CATHEDRAL STAFF
Dear Friends in Christ,
On behalf of Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the Clergy and
staff, I welcome you to the Cathedral of Christ the King. I
hope and pray that you feel welcomed by our parish
community and that your spiritual and pastoral needs will
be met.
We are a very active parish with 5,500 families and over one
hundred ministries. We encourage our members to share
their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Our mission statement is to “Know, Love and Serve as Jesus
Did”. This is the mission of each disciple of Christ and, if
you are new, I hope and pray that you will join us and be
part of the community of Christ the King. If you are passing
through or visiting the city of Atlanta, I hope you enjoy your
worship experience and please visit us again.
If you would like to know more about our parish, you can
visit our website at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org or
email us.
May we, this day and all the days of our lives, know, love
and serve as Jesus did.
Prayers and Blessings,
Msgr. Frank McNamee, Rector
