ACTIVITIES Chapters 1─4 Before you read 1 Look at the picture on the front of this book. Where do you think the man is sitting, and why? What do you think he is going to do? I think he is in a park because he wants to take a break after work. Maybe he going to eat something. 2 Check these words in your dictionary. Make sure you understand them all. Army: an organized military force equipped for fighting on land. Boiler: a fuel-burning apparatus or container for heating water, in particular. Coach: a horse-drawn carriage, especially a closed one. Goal: the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. Grenade: a small bomb thrown by hand or launched mechanically. Harmonica: a small rectangular wind instrument with a row of metal reeds along its length, held against the lips and moved from side to side to produce different notes by blowing or sucking.
