Voices And Context Twenty Years of the Struggle of the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (Some of their contributions) Carlos Humberto Durand Alcántara1 Marcos Daniel Silva Maldonado Abstract: After twenty years of their insurrection, this paper is aimed to set the socio-political importance of the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) in the regional and national scenery, its influence in the "indigenous reform" at the continental level, as well as its contributions to the field of the fight for a more fair and democratic country. Of singular importance in the definition of the neo Zapatista conception are its epistemological and cultural definitions (in the mayan context), and its ethics based on the principles based in the actions of the social majority.
