From that new assignment he will continue his leadership of the Holy Name of Jesus Chinese Catholic Mission as its first administrator. We will send him to his new assignment with a reception in his honor on Saturday, June 18, 5:00-7:00 p.m., in the Historic Church. Please come help us offer Father Bill our gratitude and affection. Next weekend’s second collection will also go to our IHM Debt Reduction Fund. All contributions to this fund will go toward accelerating the retirement of our parish debt. Thank you for your generosity! Why do Retirement accounts make good gifts to the parish? IRAs, 401Ks and other retirement accounts are taxable to heirs unless the heir is a charity. Taxes on these funds can be up to 60% or more. It is better to leave insurance policies to children because they go directly to the child at death with no taxes due. If you name the parish endowment as the beneficiary or one of the beneficiaries on your retirement account, you will not need to pay taxes on that portion of the distribution. For more information about retirement accounts as charitable gifts, please go to the Catholic Foundation website on planned giving: www.cfngalegacy.com or contact Juliet Greco at jgreco@cfnga.org or 404-497-9440. IHMATLANTA.ORG Ext. 235 ***** 100% OF THE FUNDS r eceived over our parish goal will return to us here at IHM without any assessment from the Archdiocese. That means that every dollar given to the AAA is worth about $1.30 in money contributed to the Sunday offertory! Your gift helps the Archdiocese and our parish! This amount represents about a 40% increase over our normal collection. AND, the April collection was also fantastic since our benefactor has completed the $7500 match. The IHM SVdP Conference thanks you for your generosity in helping us to achieve our mission: Respecting the dignity of each person, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia brings hope and help to those in need so they may achieve stability and move toward self-sufficiency. HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SPORTING EVENTS Traffickers are opportunistic hunters and see major sporting events, and the thousands of people who flock to sports venues, as an opportunity for huge profits with little risk of penalty or punishment. Human trafficking is a business, and traffickers will take advantage of what they perceive to be good business opportunities – including national and international sporting events. Please visit the U.S. Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking at http://www. sistersagainsttrafficking.org. 2016 EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS June 3-4 Each year the Eucharistic Congress brings together Catholics from across the Archdiocese and the country to celebrate the visible, living presence of Jesus. Archbishop Gregory, along with Bishop Talley and Bishop Zarama, ask that you join them for this year’s Eucharistic Congress at the Georgia International Convention Center, June 3 and 4. CONSECRATION TO JESUS THROUGH MARY May 2-June 3 Do you have a special devotion to Mary? As we are called to turn towards Jesus Christ and enter into a deeper relationship with Him, consider consecrating yourself to Jesus Christ through Mary. The Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary by St. Louis-Marie de Monfort involves a 33-day preparation period, which consists of daily readings and prayers, and culminates with a prayer of consecration on a Marian feast day. Both the preparation and the prayer of consecration can be done individually. Here at IHM, a group of parishioners will begin the 33-day devotion individually on May 2 and will get together as a group to do the prayer of consecration on the feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 4 after the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Come and join us! If you have any questions regarding this devotion or if you would like to receive a copy of the complete packet of readings and prayers, please contact Fr. Bill at bhao@ihmatlanta.org or call 404-636-1418, ext. 242.
